Frequently Asked Questions about Boudoir Photography

Deciding to invest in boudoir photography usually requires a little (or big!) leap of faith.

"Who can I trust?"

"Is it worth it?"

"Will I like how I look?"

Whether you've been researching and thinking about boudoir for a while, or whether you've just decided to take the plunge, there's great information on this page about how I work, what to expect, and how my clients feel about their photos.

Common Questions

Will you post or share my photographs online?

Absolutely never without your permission! The images that I you see on my website, in social media, and in my private, password-protected portfolio are there with the permission of my clients.

After our photo reveal session, we will talk about whether there are any images that you would feel great about being included in my portfolio, but the decision is 100% yours.

Why do I need to email you to see your portfolio?

I am very serious about protecting the privacy of my clients. I require an emailed request to view my online portfolio so that I can verify that anyone who inquires is an actual potential boudoir client. Once that verification process is complete via email exchange or phone call, I provide the link to the portfolio along with a password. I regularly review what emails log in to view the portfolio and can revoke access at any time.

Please note that the images in my private portfolio have been approved by my clients to share, but I take my responsibility to protect them very seriously.

Do you provide hair and make-up services?

I do not provide hair and make-up, but you are welcome to use your own stylist who knows you best! My preference is for a "barely there" make up look. Clean skin, with or without foundation, groomed eyebrows and lashes, and a neutral lip are fine! BUT.... if you love makeup and want to come in full face, that's also fine! We will go over some guidelines during our pre-shoot consulation.

Remember, your boudoir session is about revealing YOU!

What do I wear?

We will talk about what clothing makes you feel confident, comfortable, and sexy. Before our session, we will go over outfit choices and develop options that can range from fully covered to fully nude, and anything in between!

Typically, you will begin your boudoir session in an outfit with more coverage - like a slouchy sweater and boy shorts, or lingerie paired with a robe. Boudoir is about revealing yourself - and that can only happen at your pace and with your comfort in mind. I will gently push you to extend outside of your comfort zone, but you are always in charge. My responsibility is to help you create gorgeous images that reveal how beautiful you are - no matter what you wear!

Think of your boudoir session as a journey where you can reveal and discover more about yourself!

Will you help me pose?

Absolutely! I will help you to find poses that show off your best features in flattering (and sometimes surprising!) ways. At the beginning of our session, I'll go through some basics, and we will move into more creative in-the-moment posing during our shoot.

The best boudoir photos are often created through a spontaneous posing inspiration! Be prepared to play, experiment, and laugh a lot.

Can I bring my stylist to the session for touch-ups?

No. I don't allow anyone else to be present except the person (or couple!) being photographed. My sessions are personal, playful, and focused on you. An audience, no matter how loving and supportive, is disruptive to that process. Remember - you aren't a professional model who is used to lots of people at a photo shoot! :)

How much image editing will you do?

I will edit the images so that you look gorgeous - but still 100% you. My standard edits include skin corrections (blemishes, softening & smoothing, redness removal, etc.).

Often clients have what they feel are "problem areas". We will address those during the shoot with creative angles and posing.

During and/or after your initial photo reveal, we will talk about whether or not you love an image but would like an additional edit. I am happy to do small "nip and tuck" corrections, but I don't do significant body adjustments. Boudoir photography is about celebrating and revealing your beauty - any shape, any size, any skin. <3

Do I have to buy an album or prints?

My sessions include digital images with no requirement to purchase an album or prints.

Most of my clients love their images and choose to have me design and produce an album, but this is 100% your choice.
